History

Manufacture

Extudr Wood is a biofilament made of spruce fibres.

3D-Printing

When printing, the special nature of the material does not necessarily suit beginners but should rather be used by slightly advanced users to ensure that the beautiful printed parts are as good as they can be.

Technical data

Due to the special composition of the material, the layer adhesion is comparable to PLA and can also be loaded. In addition, the material is biodegradable and therefore open to many applications.

Applications

The material is suitable for biodegradable areas due to its biological composition. Due to the special feel, the material can also be used for designer applications.

Areas of Use

Biodegradable areas, designer applications thanks to special haptics

Showcase

The HIVEOPOLIS project, coordinated by Graz University of Technology, aims to provide honeybees with intelligent, technologically improved honeycombs. With the help of the Extrudr Wood filament, the honeycombs are printed and then overgrown by a fungus. The use of technological aids is intended to guide bees to more high-yield areas or to divert them from areas affected by pesticide or pest infestation. This allows honeybees to adapt to today's difficulties and with the help of technological aids, bees can be warned of environmental influences.
