PrintStool by Thorsten Franck for Wilkhahn

Thorsten Franck recently presented his Stool Design for Wilkhahn Germany.

Initially presented at NeoCon Chicago 2016 PrintStool was introduced to the European public at Orgatec Cologne 2016 and is essentially nothing more complicated than a classic biconical, egg-timer, shaped stool. A classic egg-timer shaped stool available with a selection of geometric patterns and which thanks to the form of the base gently rocks with the user.

With PrintStool One, Wilkahn joined forces with designer Thorsten Franck to develop a dynamic stool whose body is manufactured using 3D printing technology. The sophisticated three-dimensional structures in PrintStool One combine the efficient use of material with robust strength. Thanks to the clever way in which the seat and base of the stool are connected, it can support up to 100 kg of weight. The dynamic stool, however, is not just an impressive high-tech product but also sets a new milestone in environmentally friendly product design with its use of the renewable, fully biodegradable material Extrudr BDP.
